Design
Design is a subjective issue. However I believe there is such a thing as good and bad design, especially when it comes to web design...
Web Design
The main reasons I went into web design after studying graphic design for 4 years at school and college was because of the extra dimensions and opportunities for interactivity it affords. Not only was this far more exciting than print design but it was also a challenge; you don't have to just consider the aesthetics of a design you also have to think about the usability and the technical restraints (screen resolutions, available fonts, download times etc etc).
Some web designers only do the graphics and don't touch the code, and some web developers only do the programming and can't do the graphics. I sit comfortably in the middle; I know I'm not the most creative, off the wall designer or the most talented, socially-inept developer but I can create an attractive design and code it myself, plus I'm safe to introduce to clients.
As a creative, problem-solving, logical kind of guy being a front end web developer & designer suits me to the ground... I get to use both sides of my brain every day!
